Dear Yuletide Writer!

Dear Yuletide Writer, 

It's that time of year again and I cannot believe how quickly Yuletide has rolled around again. This is my second year doing it and I loved every moment of it last year! The excitement and anticipation was so palpable and I couldn't wait to sign up this year.

Anyway I'm really excited to see what you come up with! Please don't feel constrained by anything here (apart from the DNWs) but I do have a couple of likes and dislikes that I'd appreciate if you kept in mind:

Likes: 

• Characters: I love reading anything that's character driven. Especially within fic, because it's awesome to have the opportunity to examine characters outside of canon. My particular preference is for characters to have motivations from within canon.
• Humour: This is a big one for me, I love stories that can make me laugh. It doesn't have to be funny throughout, and I'm also a sucker for some good angst, but anything that's humorous wins bonus points with me. It can be anything from witty banter to a unicorn shooting rainbows out its arse, I don't mind, but I'd love a bit of it inlcuded. 
• Sensory description: I adore stories that have a focus on sensory experiences that the characters are having. I want to know exactly what they see, hear, taste, smell and feel, I want to feel like I'm in the world with them and am experiencing the things alongside them. 

 

Dislikes: 

• AU: Alternate universes are not my cup of tea, I'd rather read stories that are an extension of canon. Having said this, I don't mind if you diverge from canon for your story, but I'd prefer if the characters weren't in a different world.
• PWP: I'm not totally against this but I'm a sucker for a good story and if the only reason for the story to exist is that two characters are going to bone each other, I'm just not feeling it. I don't mind sex as long as there's a good reason for it in the story.
• Violence/Gore: I'm not squeamish but I'm not a big fan of violence and gore. It's not something that I'm drawn to and I tend to avoid stories that include either of these things. 

DNWs: 

• Noncon/dubcon: If one party involved in sexy times does not consent to something, I will not read it under any circumstances. 
• Underage: Much like above, if one or both parties is underage, it's a definite no in my books. 
• Vore: Nope. Just nope. 
• Bodily fluids: See above. 

Assassination Classroom 

Characters:  Karma, Asano, Nakamura and Okuda

I love this show and have ever since I saw the opening scene in the first episode. The show, however, wasn't complete for me until Karma came along. He's wonderfully snarky and just evil enough that I can totally get behind any of his schemes.

For pairing, I don't really have any preference,  so for stories, something along the lines of what he gets up to at high school with Asano as his rival, or just something cute with him and Okuda would also be wonderful!

I'd be so excited for a story about him and Nakamura coming up with some completely awesome evil scheme for whatever, really. Those two thick as thieves really worked for me in the series and I would just love a story about them doing something like that in whatever setting you can imagine. 

 

Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma

Characters: Hayama  

This is an easy one for me, because even though I adore the characters in Food Wars (and have written a couple of fics to that extent), I'll be completely honest, I love Food Wars for the food porn. The reactions of people when they taste the food, which are always phenomenal, and the descriptions of the food itself are what make the show for me. So with this, I'm not really into any particular pairing, I'd love a fic that is particularly food focused.

Especially when it comes to Hayama, given his love for spices and Indian inspired flavours (which are something I grew up with), I would love to see a story that examines his ability to smell and pair spices together, to create dishes that are so wonderfully aromatic. That is pretty much my idea of a perfect fic.

Either that or I would be all for a story about him and Soma after the Autumn elections, and their burgeoning friendship. I'd love to see how this plays out, and how they become something more than rivals.

 

The Morose Mononokean 

Characters: Ashiya, Abeno

This show has all the fluffy moments for me, with that excellent pairing of a touch of angst so that it doesn't come off too saccharine when you absorb it. Honestly, when it comes to this, just more of the same would do me. The only thing is that I don't have a pairing for this manga, so I'd rather avoid a story that includes a pairing.

The formula is something that definitely works for me and I'd just love to see Ashiya and Abeno doing what they do best, with perhaps a bit extra Abeno-snark because I've got a real soft spot for it. A bit more exploration of the Underworld would be awesome, what different kinds of yokai live there and perhaps even Abeno having to get Ashiya out of trouble (again). Even the reverse would be cool, Ashiya helping out Abeno, and getting nothing but snark in response (even though we all know he's grateful).

Really anything would work for me, and be as adventurous as you like.

Bungou Stray Dogs 

Characters: Dazai 

I'm in love with this show. There's just something so wonderful about the way the show balances the absolutely, insanely humorous moments, with the real angst and despair that underlies the show. I can't get enough of it and I've basically spent the last few months eagerly awaiting its return.

Now, I'm a huge fan of Dazai, he's basically what I'm a sucker for when it comes to characters. A bit of a joker, with a tragic past, who's deceptively brilliant - I can't get enough of him, which is why, I'd be FOREVER grateful for a Dazai centered fic. Now even though the angst is necessary for this show, the humour is what really makes is for me (in fact, I'm not as fond of the manga because if doesn't have so much of a humorous side). I'd be so grateful if you include some humour in it.

I don't have a pairing for this show, so I'd prefer a fic that doesn't include one, because that's not the appeal of the show for me. Also because I'm a serious nerd, if there's the wonderful literary references that are rippled throughout the show, I'd love you forever. It could be something like the throwaway line in the 2nd episode about Dazai being picked up by a fishing boat after trying to commit suicide, being a reference back to the real Dazai.

Please don't feel like you have to do anything particularly that I've laid out here, these are simply some ideas that I've had and would be interested to see. Feel free to use them as a starting block and go your own way, whatever works for you.
