Dear Yuletide Writer!

Dear Yuletide Writer,

I’ve had a year away from Yuletide because you know, life sucks on occasion, but I’ve loved doing it in the past and I really wanted to participate again. I’m especially excited to read what you’ve written as I’m absolutely confident that it’ll be AWESOME.

The link to my AO3 account is here: http://archiveofourown.org/users/lordbeatrice/works - I often write things that I like to read, in terms of theme and characters, so feel free to have a look if you need any guidance, but don’t feel like these are totally indicative of my tastes.

What follows are simply some suggestions for things I like and don’t like but don’t feel like these are the only things that you are obliged to do, write something that makes you happy, that you’re excited to write because I’ll be just as excited to read it!

Likes:

Characters: I’m more of a character driven person than a plot one (plot is good but characters are better), so I’d be really excited to see stories that explored some unknown aspects of a character I love. Or just more focus on something that was brought up but never addressed again.
Angst: I’ve had a real thing for some good angst lately. It doesn’t have to be totally depressing but I love some serious undertones, even if there is a happy ending.
Fluff: What can I say? I’m a person of opposites but I do love me some good teeth rotting sweetness every now and again.
F/F: This is something a little bit more modern for me, even though I’ve always liked it, lately I’ve been seeking out stories with a good strong F/F romance at their core. Especially if there’s some serious fluff or excitement to it. [Should there be someone in a three piece suit there might be cookies for you]
Surprise: If you can surprise me in anyway I’ll be exceptionally grateful. It doesn’t have to be something big but some awesome literary reference or obscure knowledge or a three piece suit, are all wonderful and I would be very grateful for them.

Dislikes:

AU: I’m not a great fan of alternate universes, but canon divergence or extension are totally cool. I’d just like to keep somewhat within the original setting.
PWP: I need story, it’s my crack. So sexy times are good but plot is super important.
Violence/Gore: I work with dead people so I’m not squeamish but at the same time, this doesn’t appeal to me in anyway.
ABO: This just isn’t me, I can’t really explain it but I’m not overly fond of stories that follow this theme.

DNWs:

Noncon/dubcon: If one party involved in sexy times does not consent to something, I will not read it under any circumstances.
Underage: Much like above, if one or both parties is underage, it's a definite no in my books.
    Vore: Nope. Just nope.
    Bodily fluids: See above.

A Simple Favour (2018)
Characters: Emily and Stephanie

The whole vibe of this movie was exactly what I’ve been waiting for in a movie lately. Having said that I would love to see an alternate take on the ending, one that preferably ended with Emily and Stephanie together, a bit Bonnie and Clyde style. It doesn’t have to be an ending either, I really love the idea of these two together so go with your heart on this one, what manner would you think they’d end up together or be together if it doesn’t last?
Bonus points and cookies for focusing on Emily’s amazing suits!

Press Gang
Characters: Lynda and Spike

Now I do realise I mentioned some angst up above as something I’d like, but with these two, there’s so much angst in their relationship I’d love to see something fluffier. Something where the weight of their worlds wasn’t weighing on them so heavily. Something happy for the two of them because I feel like that was always off screen and we never really got to see it.
Maybe even an alternate take to the scene where Spike tells Lynda he loves her? Or the one where they’re reunited on the kids show in series four?

Cowboy Bebop
Characters: Spike

I have two lists into which anime is sorted, and Cowboy Bebop sits at the top of my ‘All time most soul destroying’ list, and most of that is to do with the final episode and Spike’s speech. Having said that I’d love some background to Spike’s speech to Faye in the final episode, what made him feel like he wasn’t living his life anymore? What made him so detached? He mentions one possibility but is that all it is?

Howl Series
Characters: Sophie and Howl

Honestly I would love to see Howl chuck the biggest tantrum ever if one day Sophie manages to be a better wizard than he is. Or over time does Howl’s prima donna ways impact Sophie at all, does she one day accidentally dye her hair blue and throw a fit over it? I’d love to see something light and fluffy for these two but honestly, anything with this pairing would make me unbelievably happy.

The Road to El Dorado
Characters: Miguel and Tulio

That quite infamous line:
‘You fight like my sister.’
‘I’ve fought your sister, that’s a compliment!’
I need some backstory because that’s one of the greatest lines in any movie ever.

All these things I’ve suggested here are just that: suggestions. Please don’t feel that you are in anyway constrained by them (other than the DNWs obviously), what I want most is for you to have a fantastic time writing a fabulous, sparkly story! I’m so very happy to be back doing Yuletide and I’m so excited to read your story.
Have the absolute best time writing it!!

Dear Yuletide Writer!

Dear Yuletide Writer,

It's that time of year again and I cannot believe how quickly Yuletide has rolled around again. This is my second year doing it and I loved every moment of it last year! The excitement and anticipation was so palpable and I couldn't wait to sign up this year.

The link to my AO3 account is here: http://archiveofourown.org/users/lordbeatrice/works - I generally write things that I like to read, so hopefully any one of those should help if you're feeling lost at all.

Anyway I'm really excited to see what you come up with! Please don't feel constrained by anything here (apart from the DNWs) but I do have a couple of likes and dislikes that I'd appreciate if you kept in mind:

Likes:

  • Characters: I love reading anything that's character driven. Especially within fic, because it's awesome to have the opportunity to examine characters outside of canon. My particular preference is for characters to have motivations from within canon.
  • Humour: This is a big one for me, I love stories that can make me laugh. It doesn't have to be funny throughout, and I'm also a sucker for some good angst, but anything that's humorous wins bonus points with me. It can be anything from witty banter to a unicorn shooting rainbows out its arse, I don't mind, but I'd love a bit of it inlcuded.
  • Sensory description: I adore stories that have a focus on sensory experiences that the characters are having. I want to know exactly what they see, hear, taste, smell and feel, I want to feel like I'm in the world with them and am experiencing the things alongside them.

Dislikes:

  • AU: Alternate universes are not my cup of tea, I'd rather read stories that are an extension of canon. Having said this, I don't mind if you diverge from canon for your story, but I'd prefer if the characters weren't in a different world.
  • PWP: I'm not totally against this but I'm a sucker for a good story and if the only reason for the story to exist is that two characters are going to bone each other, I'm just not feeling it. I don't mind sex as long as there's a good reason for it in the story.
  • Violence/Gore: I'm not squeamish but I'm not a big fan of violence and gore. It's not something that I'm drawn to and I tend to avoid stories that include either of these things.

DNWs:

  • Noncon/dubcon: If one party involved in sexy times does not consent to something, I will not read it under any circumstances.
  • Underage: Much like above, if one or both parties is underage, it's a definite no in my books.
  • Vore: Nope. Just nope.
  • Bodily fluids: See above.

Assassination Classroom

Characters:  Karma, Asano, Nakamura and Okuda

I love this show and have ever since I saw the opening scene in the first episode. The show, however, wasn't complete for me until Karma came along. He's wonderfully snarky and just evil enough that I can totally get behind any of his schemes.

For pairing, I don't really have any preference,  so for stories, something along the lines of what he gets up to at high school with Asano as his rival, or just something cute with him and Okuda would also be wonderful!

I'd be so excited for a story about him and Nakamura coming up with some completely awesome evil scheme for whatever, really. Those two thick as thieves really worked for me in the series and I would just love a story about them doing something like that in whatever setting you can imagine.

Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma

Characters: Hayama

This is an easy one for me, because even though I adore the characters in Food Wars (and have written a couple of fics to that extent), I'll be completely honest, I love Food Wars for the food porn. The reactions of people when they taste the food, which are always phenomenal, and the descriptions of the food itself are what make the show for me. So with this, I'm not really into any particular pairing, I'd love a fic that is particularly food focused.

Especially when it comes to Hayama, given his love for spices and Indian inspired flavours (which are something I grew up with), I would love to see a story that examines his ability to smell and pair spices together, to create dishes that are so wonderfully aromatic. That is pretty much my idea of a perfect fic.

Either that or I would be all for a story about him and Soma after the Autumn elections, and their burgeoning friendship. I'd love to see how this plays out, and how they become something more than rivals.

The Morose Mononokean

Characters: Ashiya, Abeno

This show has all the fluffy moments for me, with that excellent pairing of a touch of angst so that it doesn't come off too saccharine when you absorb it. Honestly, when it comes to this, just more of the same would do me. The only thing is that I don't have a pairing for this manga, so I'd rather avoid a story that includes a pairing.

The formula is something that definitely works for me and I'd just love to see Ashiya and Abeno doing what they do best, with perhaps a bit extra Abeno-snark because I've got a real soft spot for it. A bit more exploration of the Underworld would be awesome, what different kinds of yokai live there and perhaps even Abeno having to get Ashiya out of trouble (again). Even the reverse would be cool, Ashiya helping out Abeno, and getting nothing but snark in response (even though we all know he's grateful).

Really anything would work for me, and be as adventurous as you like.

Bungou Stray Dogs

Characters: Dazai

I'm in love with this show. There's just something so wonderful about the way the show balances the absolutely, insanely humorous moments, with the real angst and despair that underlies the show. I can't get enough of it and I've basically spent the last few months eagerly awaiting its return.

Now, I'm a huge fan of Dazai, he's basically what I'm a sucker for when it comes to characters. A bit of a joker, with a tragic past, who's deceptively brilliant - I can't get enough of him, which is why, I'd be FOREVER grateful for a Dazai centered fic. Now even though the angst is necessary for this show, the humour is what really makes is for me (in fact, I'm not as fond of the manga because if doesn't have so much of a humorous side). I'd be so grateful if you include some humour in it.

I don't have a pairing for this show, so I'd prefer a fic that doesn't include one, because that's not the appeal of the show for me. Also because I'm a serious nerd, if there's the wonderful literary references that are rippled throughout the show, I'd love you forever. It could be something like the throwaway line in the 2nd episode about Dazai being picked up by a fishing boat after trying to commit suicide, being a reference back to the real Dazai.

Please don't feel like you have to do anything particularly that I've laid out here, these are simply some ideas that I've had and would be interested to see. Feel free to use them as a starting block and go your own way, whatever works for you.

I'm so excited and can't wait to see what you come up with! Good writing!

Dear Yuletide Writer

This is my first year doing this, so I'm both excited and a bit nervous (not because of you, as I'm sure you'll be awesome!). I even now have a shiny login on AO3 as lordbeatrice! I've been told by a friend that I've been a little bit specific in my requests, but I don't want you to feel like you're totally constricted by what I've put here.

Likes

Crossovers - I read a lot of crossover fic so I'm always happy for crossovers. Having said that, I usually prefer ones where they're a believable crossover, I don't like them simply for the sake of having one.

Sensory descriptions - As I'm sure you can gather from below, I like a lot of things that describe sensory experiences, so sight, taste, sound, touch and smell.

Characters - I'll generally forgive nearly anything if I like the characters that I'm reading, I'm especially partial to characters that are spectacularly loyal. Having said that, I don't like fics where the character does something particularly OOC, I'd like it to be within the realm of what they might do in canon.

Dislikes

Underage - I won't read anything where the characters are underage in a sexually explicit situation, so I'd really prefer not to have anything which includes that.

Violence - I'm also not a big fan of anything that's too violent in nature. I'm not squeamish as such, I simply don't have a taste for anything too violent.

Non-consensual - As with anything underage, I won't read anything where one person involved in a situation where they don't consent to it.

Having said all that, there's only one thing to keep in mind:

Have fun! That's all I really want. I can't wait to see what you'll come up with!

Adele Blanc-Sec

Characters: Adele

I would love something completely fantastic, that's always what I've loved about this film. There's too few pterodactyls flying over Paris and I really need a mummy for a butler.

Speaking of, after she revives her sister, does Adele still have a mummy butler? If so, what problems does that present for her moving forward? Or does it remain as awesome as it should have been?

Perhaps she discovers some other weird thing happening in Paris. A basilisk in the Metro? A poltergeist in Pere Lachaise? A shinigami at a tea house?

I'd love a real focus on Paris, with as much detail as possible about the city and what adventures Adele has there.

Tintin

Characters: Tintin, Haddock

I love the friendship between Tintin and Captain Haddock. They've got such disparate personalities, but they have such strong loyalty and get along so easily. I'd enjoy reading stories in keeping with canon, perhaps a murder victim discovered by the Captain when he is disoriented from drinking leads to an adventure, or perhaps the Professor has invented a teleport machine and this leads Tintin and Haddock somewhere interesting.

If possible I'd love some other characters to pop up. Thomson and Thompson, Professor Calculus, and Snowy. I would enjoy reading some of Snowy's snarky thought bubbles, I loved those. I'd like it if you had a good laugh writing it, I liked Herge's comic timing and humour.

Press Gang

Characters: Lynda and Spike

It's an issue that has bothered me ever since the episode aired: What happened after the fade to black in 'There Are Crocodiles'? Is Lynda alive? Was Spike dreaming? I need closure!
Alternately, moments from any of the episodes where Spike pushes Lynda outside her comfort area. Where he encourages her to be better than she believes she can be. It was one of the most compelling sides to their relationship. I'd love to see that sweet side the two of them shared, but with that snark that they perfected throughout their time together.

A what-if set in a future where everyone lives would be fascinating. I'd love to see how their dynamic changes (and stays the same) when they are older.

Food Wars!

Characters: Any

An emphasis on food, maybe the best thing someone ever tasted or made. Say the meal that Joichiro cooked for Erina, or the food that Soma or Megumi grew up with. What makes them excited or feel at home? What memories or images, do they conjure up?
Food Wars has a real emphasis on the joy of food and I'd love to read something that echoes that. The sensations and tastes that a diner experiences. What it feels like to have your assumptions blown away by a new dish. There's doesn't need to be the overly sexual emphasis that the show had, but I want that joy to be apparent.
If you're not as much of a foodie as me, I'd enjoy reading something about how Erina and Hisako met, or how Isshiki managed to get into the Elite Ten wearing nothing but an apron.

Cowboy Bebop

Characters: Spike Spiegel

In the last episode, we find out Spike at some point in the past, lost an eye and since then has never been convinced that the world he lived in was anything more than a dream. I'd like to see someone expand on that. How did he lose the eye? What was it after that point that made him believe that life wasn't something that was real? Why was living in a dream world more preferable?

I loved the soundtrack and how music influenced the emotional tone of the series, so feel free to let music you like influence the story (and link me to it!) I'd also enjoy reading a stand-alone episode style story focusing on the Bebop's crew or a bounty hunt gone wrong (but when do they ever go right?)

Your Lie in April

Characters: Kousei and Kaori

Music is so important to these characters, I'd love to read something about some music that has influenced their personalities or choices in life. I'd also enjoy seeing how they interpret their world through music. What piece would Kousei liken to Tsubaki, or Watari? What music makes Kousei smile or cry? What does Kaori listen to, on days where everything has become too much? How does music affect their moods and experiences? It would be interesting to see a contrast between how they both use music in their day to day lives, or what pieces they associate with each other and how that reflect their self-image and their feelings.

The Amaranthine of Shakespeare

This time I'm branching out from my usual foray into the world of modern storytelling to hark back at the master himself. I'm also going to be completely honest, when it comes to Shakespeare, I'm an unadulterated fangirl, I just can't help myself. I get all tingly just at the thought of something that includes words such as 'thee', 'henceforth' and 'wilt'. A couple of years ago I nearly sold my soul for tickets to Hamlet (It was admittedly not only Hamlet that was the attraction but David Tennant who just happened to have the lead role for the occasion).

'Alas poor Yorrick...that he might answer me'
I'm celebrating Shakespeare today because I've made an investment. A boxed edition, leather bound RSC Complete Works of Shakespeare and I'm feeling rather squee about it. I have already thumbed through the 2000 odd pages. Inhaled the scent that only comes from something that is bound in leather. I've drooled over the imaginative vernacular within. More than anything else I'm eagerly awaiting some time so I can sit down and read each and every piece within. Some of which I'm amazed to find that I'm not familiar with, given my fangirl status, I'm surprised Mr. Shakespeare has penned anything that I haven't heard of.

'My precious...'
So it is now sitting in plain view in my living room, so I may ogle it every time I walk past. After all Shakespeare deserves nothing less. Plus I'm quite proud of it. So it's got a place where everyone might see it. I'm going to be sorely disappointed the first time someone fails to comment on it. That in my mind is nothing more than an act of heathenism on their part, worthy of miscommunication on mine.

I suppose all of this really should be leading to why I love Shakespeare so much. I mean my English heritage has imbued me with a fealty to the man I must admit. A love of Shakespeare runs in my blood. To which I now must admit that it is terribly English to worship at the altar which is Shakespeare. That others would see, Dante, say as the better candidate, and perhaps he is. However I shall remain true to my roots and squee over the wonder of Shakespeare's works.

My love of Shakespeare came at a young age. My mother, who is an unadulterated fangirl about same (this is one of the few things we agree on when it comes to literature) saw benefit in educating me in same. As a result I can remember standing aghast, at about 11, when one girl I knew at the time, said that she hated Shakespeare because she couldn't understand the language. The shock nearly had me bowled over, and I was tempted to make a snarky comment back about being nothing more than a plebian, but it seemed uncalled for. Given everything she probably wouldn't have know what 'plebian' meant.

'Did my heart love til now...'

What I couldn't understand about this was how such magnificent works could be cast aside purely by a fear of the language. Shakespeare's English may not be common vernacular, but the works transcend time. This is why I love Shakespeare so much. The interpretations of his work may change over time, but the stories remain steadfast within our society. After all Shakespeare has transcended all forms of media;

Film

Ballet

Anime

Manga

and the original...The Stage

I feel at this juncture that it is important to mention that I am not blind enough to Shakespeare merits to realise that although his stories have held true through the years, that they have also been adapted to a modern audience. Many of the movies that I grew up watching were interpretations of a Shakespearean plot, '10 Things I Hate About You', 'She's the Man' and 'O'. This does continue to support my argument though, even if the original Shakespeare is beyond some people, the stories are not. They are truly amaranthine in their nature.

So without further ado I shall say nothing more than a humble thanks to the man himself, for without him I would not be so squee.

The Foretoken of Doctor Who

Since the reintroduction of Doctor Who in 2005 that there is a whole new generation of people who were never aware that there was something preceding this. After all with RTD at the helm very few people were considered enough to look back at what was, when they were presented with the wondrous things before them. Over night the 'New Who' had captured the minds of a generation.

This however caused a rift with the fans of the 'Old Who'. Many of them complained about the more soapy nature of the 'New Who'. That the Doctor was far too human given his Time Lord status. They had revelled in the scenery that shook, the crappy costumes, the hammy acting, all these things which they claimed had defined the show as what it truly was. That in the process of creating a new version of same, that it had lost it soul somewhere a long the way.

'Old Who'

'New Who'
Now I'm one of the few people who appreciates both the old and the new. After all I have limited memories of the 'Old Who', it having been cancelled when I was still quite young. So a lot of my experience has been through the 'New Who' as a result. In fact given my love of the new and went back and re-immersed myself in the old because of it. While I enjoy both it must be said that I do not have the same affection for the old. There are things that I enjoy of the 'New Who' that the old didn't have.

Unlike some of my peers, I like the more human Doctors. I would like to believe that having spent so many of his years surrounded by us, and his admiration of same, that the Doctor would become more humanised over time. Being the most intelligent being in the universe he could surely see the benefit of observing some of our customs. Not to say that I would imagine him totally human, after all the wonder that is associated with the Doctor is his alienness. In fact that is one of the reason I love the Tenth Doctor so much, he is both alien and so very human at the same time, mad, brilliant, exuberant and so sad all at the same time.

A young but ancient face...
Even though some people gag at the thought of it, I really enjoyed the Doctor's love for Rose. I grow tired of the argument that love is an emotion purely devoted to humanity. That any other creature could never exhibit such depth of emotion. In the Doctor's case, he makes the impossible possible so why is the fact that he fell in love so out of character? Surely nothing should be out of character for him, he embodies everything that we wish we could be, scared that we might be.

That is what makes it such a brilliant show. Ok at it's heart it is essentially about a man who travels in a blue box throughout time and space. It's completely bizarre and wacky, it's over the top and cheesy, but that's what makes it wonderful. That in the midst of all of this you could have something that can also be at times deeply emotional. That your lead can be the most wondrous and terrible creature at the same time. It's shows the possibly of what might be, and for that alone it deserves all the accolades.

Each and every one of them...

The Vacillation of Choice

Choice is one of those amazing things that is both remarkably easy and yet so tremendously difficult at the same time. Admittedly this is because choice can transmogrify itself from something harmless, say a puppy, to a fire breathing dragon, with seemingly little effort. This ability is why so many people vacillate over such things all their life without ever making a decision about anything.
I consider myself a seemingly decisive person. Someone offers me something I want, I usually accept with little thought (strangers with candy a notable exception, well as long as they didn't look like Dean Winchester). After all, if it's something I want, I've already given some serious thought as to why I might want something.

Who can say no to that face?

Which is why at the moment I find myself so frustrated with several people around me. Admittedly one particularly has thrown me head first into this rant. Offered an opportunity of a lifetime and willing to shrug it off because it's outside what they know. I mean I know sometimes the thought of making such a drastic change is unnerving, I should know, I've made several of them in my lifetime. I've moved halfway round the world and back again to try and make of the most of them. It is terrifying. I won't lie. But I won't say that I didn't enjoy every minute of it. Even the bad ones. After all this is what we're here for to make the most of what we're given.

Doctor Who would cease to exist if everyone was so rational....
I know there are good reasons to give some consideration to these big decisions, I mean there's the big one, money, not to mention all the other convenient ones, family, home, ability, but it is not the same if you keep making excuses. After a while you realise that all your life has ever consisted of are the excuses that you keep making to yourself and you have nothing else to show for your existence.

Life does not wait for you to gain the confidence to do these things. Confidence is nothing more than the face to put on to face the world. The opportunity you are given however will eventually pass you by and you'll be another one of those people who would've, should've, could've, without doing any of the things they've always been threatening to do. Personally in my opinion, there is nothing more pitiable. Who in their right mind would choose an unremarkable existence over the promise of something brilliant?

Would you choose Wal-Mart over this?
So without further ado, I shall conclude by saying, I pity the people who are afraid to move past the vacillation that these choices bring them, for they are doomed to an existence of mediocrity, and personally there is nothing worse in my mind.

The Nonpareil of Macarons

As part of my final year at school, we studied Ibsen's play, 'A Doll's House' (or 'A Doll House' I'm never quite sure which it is). My wonderful English teacher decided that each lesson we were reading through the play that people would take the roles of the main players, and rotate through until everyone had had a chance to read at least one part during this time. I was fortunate enough to be given to be given Nora in the final scene of the play.

I had admired Ibsen's egalitarian perspective in all of this, although he's credited often with being a feminist I don't think that's entirely accurate. He was merely humanitarian enough to realise that everyone should be treated equal regardless of their sex. He wasn't pro-women's rights as such, this was just the man he was. As a result, I found myself identifying with Nora in that final scene. As she stands in front of Torvald and watches her dreams of their life shatter before her.

The cover page of 'A Doll's House'
I know this seems highly irrelevant to the subjects of macarons (or macaroons if you're so inclined), but this is the starting point for my experience with them, Before this stage I have no great interest in macarons, to be honest, I'm not entirely sure before this I could have even told you what they were. As I grew up in a household that never had such things, they were not something I knew in my vernacular. After 'A Doll's House' I made sure that one day I would try them.

I wanted to try them, because of my empathy for Nora. She had tried to do the right thing, over and over, only to have everyone turn their backs on her. As for Torvald, he regarded her as very little more than the children they shared. She had no equal relationship in their marriage. This was evident in his decree that she should not be allowed to have macarons, despite her love of same. Her secret stash of them made me want to try them for the first time in my life. To see if her affection for same was truly warranted.

A rainbow symphony of Laduree macarons
Since then I have made it a mission of mine every time I am in Paris, to indulge in these small treats. To seek out the best macaronier that Paris has to offer. I've tried a multitude of different flavours, from date and fig to caramelised hummus to pistachio (my favourite). I've been to Laduree, Jean-Paul Hevin, Dallyou and some lesser known patissieres all in the search for the perfect macaron.

After all a perfect macaron is hard to come by. It should be crisp on the outside, gooey in the middle, and the cream should be smooth as it glides over your tongue. The flavours should be distinct and fragrant at the same time. It should be so wonderful that one macaron should be savoured for as long as you can manage. A perfect macaron should be forsaken for nothing.

Each one...perfect it it's own right
I love macarons that are interesting. Despite my love of the classics, as mentioned I can never go past the nonpareil of a pistachio macaron, I revel in the interesting flavours that I have been presented with. I found delight in a blueberry and lavender macaron, fire in a rose and mandarin one, home in a date and fig one, and much to my chagrin disgust in the caramelised hummus one.

After all for me, that is why macarons are so unique. They can take on all sorts of different complexities, they can be both sweet and savoury, classic and modern, they're a truly versatile commodity. For me, they are also a rare commodity. I seek them out only a few times a year to preserve their wonder for me. I travel halfway round the world to revel in them.

Some of the more interesting macarons
that are on offer
So I offer a heartfelt thanks to Nora and Ibsen for their introduction into the world of the macaron. It is truly worth it.
